Legislation The Multistate Tax Commission tracks and studies, from a multistate perspective, state and federal legislation that significantly affects income, franchise, gross receipts, sales/use, and similar taxes.  The MTC opposes federal preemption of state tax authority.

MTC Sends Letter to Congress Opposing Mobile Workforce Legislation
On December 17, 2020, the MTC sent a letter to congressional leadership opposing the Remote and Mobile Workforce State Income Tax Simplification Act, S. 3995 (116th Congress) and touting the MTC’s Model Mobile Workforce Statute [for states], which was adopted as a uniformity recommendation to the states in 2011.  Click here to read the letter.
