  • PIFTA & the Question: Are There Limits on Congress’ Ability to Preempt a State Tax? by Michael Fatale, deputy general counsel, Massachusetts Department of Revenue, and Jeff Friedman, partner, Sutherland Asbill & Brennan.

Hotel Reservations:  The guestroom rate is $119.00 plus tax for single or double occupancy.  Reservations should be made no later than Friday, June 24, 2016 via online reservation or by calling (888) 233-9527. In order to get the group rate, please mention the MTC 2016 Annual Conference.

Please note:  Online Registration is encouraged as it helps the commission properly plan for the conference and committee meetings.  No registration fee is charged to attend committee meetings.  There is a registration fee for the annual Conference held on Wednesday, July 27.

Generally, meetings of the Commission and its Committees are public. Persons attending public sessions need not identify themselves.  However, some of the listed meetings may not be entirely public. Under the Commission’s Public Participation Policy, closed meetings may be held in matters involving certain personnel issues and the acquisition/disposition of real estate, matters required by law to be confidential, including discussion of certain taxpayer information, and some discussions with counsel over pending litigation.  For your convenience, you may choose to contact the General Counsel, at (202) 650-0300, for an indication of which of the listed meetings may not be entirely public. Your contact, which may be on an anonymous basis, also permits the Commission to provide adequate seating.
