MTC Security and Refund Policies

 

Online registration and payment makes it easier for state personnel and other stakeholders to register and pay for MTC training courses and events. The MTC is committed to preserving your privacy when you use our site for registration and payment. The following sets forth MTC’s privacy and refund policy.  Any changes to this policy will be posted on this site. Security of Personal and Account Information 
Since your credit card security is essential, we have taken steps to ensure that your payment information is processed confidentially, accurately, and securely.  All online payment transactions are conducted over a secure server, and are supported by industry-standard data encryption. This 128-bit encryption is available through your browser and is called Secure Socket Layer (SSL). Personal information (such as name, mailing and billing address, telephone and fax number, and email address) as well as bank or credit card account information is encrypted or scrambled before being transmitted for payment.

Automatic Collection of Information  
When you visit our website to read or download information, we may collect some or all of the following information:

    • The name of your domain, for example, “xyz company.com”
    • An IP address — this is a number assigned to your computer when you are using the Internet
    • The type of browser and operating system used to access our site
    • The Internet address of the Website from which you linked directly to our site
    • The pages you visit within the Website
    • The links made to other Websites through this site.

This information is collected for statistical purposes to determine what information is of interest to all visitors and to identify system performance or problem areas. This information is not collected for marketing purposes.  Technical information, such as IP address, connection time and duration, and navigation activity may be logged as part of intrusion detection and website security operations.

Public Disclosure 
As a public agency, the Multistate Tax Commission may be required to disclose information under a public information disclosure request, including information described in the section “Automatic Collection of Information” (above) and “Registration Information” (above) to third parties. This type of disclosure does not apply to payment information.

Refunds 
All refunds for courses, seminars, or other events (“events”) should be submitted in writing or via email to the Commission’s Events & Training Manager (Sherry Tiggett, Multistate Tax Commission, 444 North Capitol St., N.W., Suite 425, Washington, D.C. 20001) prior to the last day of the event.  The request should designate the preference of either (1) a credit for future Commission events, or (2) a return of funds.  Requests will be processed within 10 business days following the end of the event.  For requests received less than two business days before the start of an event, the refund is at the discretion of the Commission’s Director of Administration.
